Wednesday 21st June 2023. One of the country’s leading healthcare equipment providers, Medray Imaging Systems Ltd. (‘Medray’), has announced the acquisition of the Companion and Farm Animal consumables business Molloy Veterinary (‘Molloy’), the Longford based Veterinary supplies business.
Medray has specialist divisions providing equipment and support services for the radiography, dental and veterinary sectors.
This is the second acquisition completed by Medray this year and the fourth since the company was acquired by private equity investor Erisbeg in 2019. In April of this year Medray acquired Hulbert Imaging which sells and services dental, and head & neck imaging equipment in the UK.
The objective of Erisbeg is to invest in businesses which can become leaders in their sectors through acquisition and organic growth. The Erisbeg fund has over €110 million to invest and has backed companies in the following sectors: Critical Communications, Healthcare, Compliance and Consultancy, Logistics, and Recruitment.
Speaking today Siobhan Crowley, Managing Director of Medray said “This is our 4th acquisition since 2019 and we are now a transformed business. Today’s announcement means that we have strengthened our offering in the key veterinary sector which is enjoying strong growth in Ireland”.
Molloy Veterinary (Longford) was founded by Gary Molloy in 2001 and has built up a nationwide business supplying veterinary practices. The deal does not include the equine business which will remain independent of Medray. Speaking today, Gary Molloy said “The sale of the Companion and Farm Animal segment to Medray is testament to our success over the years and it will give our valued customers access to the expertise and resources of Medray, as a bigger organisation than us”.
